Responsible for selecting a single book each month for each subscriber. The successful candidate will be able to infer a person’s entire inner life from a handful of offhand remarks, and to resist recommending whatever they happen to be reading at the time.

Qualifications

• Has read widely, and mentions it rarely
• Can tell the difference between a book someone will enjoy and a book someone ought to have enjoyed
• Comfortable defending a single choice for up to four hours
• Must not own a novelty bookmark

Responsible for the accompaniment. Sources, tastes and approves every tea that enters an IsaBox, and writes the tasting note that nobody reads.

Qualifications

• Can identify a harvest year at twenty paces
• Firm but courteous views on water temperature
• Has never, under any circumstances, described a tea as “nice”
• Willing to travel, mostly to kitchens
